This is a continuation of the following discussion:

Please note that no HP suggestions to date will resolve the issue.  A user discovered that an old driver for the video solved the problem.   HOWEVER, every time windows updates itself with a new feature update (every 6 months), or every time the video drivers are updated (randomly), the problem returns.

Since there are a large numbers of 'A' Series CPU's out there, and the graphics are built in, it is probably a BIOS issue rather than a video driver issue.  It just so happens that an older driver works as a workaround.  But uninstalling the new video driver and reinstalling the old driver ever couple of weeks is not a viable solution.

We need a response from HP that will resolve this issue.

The original complaint is repeated below.  Please checkout the original post for additional information.

I recently updated this laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10 64bit (clean install). Now I'm getting constant pauses/freezing/lag with the touchpad pointer and with the pointer when using a USB mouse. I also suffer the same symptoms when typing a long string of the same character. The freezing happens every two seconds and lasts for around a half of a second all of the time the touchpad or mouse pointer is used or if the keyboard is typing a series of characters. This problem was not present when the machine was running Windows 8.

I have un-installed the Synaptics touchpad driver and re-installed but the problem remains. When I try to update the driver it says the best one is already installed.

Device manager does not show any problems or missing drivers.

I have tried to run the Synaptics driver in Win 8 compatibility mode without success. The HP driver download for this machine will not allow me to download drivers for previous Windows versions so I can't install any earlier Synaptics drivers.

The driver in use is v19.2.4.10

The built-in UEFI hardware diagnostic does not show any faults with any hardware. I have also updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Can anyone suggest a remedy for this problem. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
