Envy 17” laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’ve tried searching the community posts and I’ve not found anything on this.

I am guessing this is a query for HP staff, but I can hardly believe I’m the only one to ask this:

The above computer was sold to me as having a touch screen, which it does not have.  Rather than the hassle of returning it for a full refund, having to wipe data off this one, then reload data to another device, I wonder if it is possible to convert this model to have a touch screen?

Did you buy the right model/product ? There are dozens of generations with hundreds of different models/products. What is your Envy 17” laptop ?  Please use the following way to find out model/product of your machine

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).

Hi there,

Thanks for the message.

The model I bought was described by the vendor (a large reseller) as touch screen.  After I bought it, I established the model number is not for one with a touch screen.

The details for the laptop are:

Prod. ID: 4BA03EA#ABU

Model number: 17-bw0503na

I understand that HP made/make a touch screen version of this laptop with a 17” screen.

I want to know if my model can be converted.  If it can, the part numbers I would need would be really helpful.

If it cannot be converted I will negotiate with the vendor.

Thanks again for your help.

@JB55555

Its specs

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06055243

Which says it has

     43.9 cm (17.3") diagonal FHD IPS WLED-backlit multitouch-enabled edge-to-edge glass (1920 x 1080) screen

That means it has touchscreen.

Regards.

Thanks for this  Banhein,

Do I need to do a different post to find out how to activate the screen?

I tried all the Microsoft and HP hardware and software tools.  They all stated a touch screen was not

present.

The laptop was sold as refurbished, so there is a possibility they replaced the screen with a non-touch version.

Thanks again for you advice and help.

Hi again Banhein,

Thank you for sending the links.  Unfortunately, both of them are to web pages and processes I've already tried.

The system information in settings\about your pc, states the screen has no pen or touch input.  The same in device manager: monitor is "standard PnP"

As far as I can find, the only thing I haven't tried that sounds like a plausible solution, is to go through a system reset.

The computer was supplied with a new SUEULA windows 10.  This required me to go through the extensive set up process and I dont know if I missed something in this process.

Thank you for your continued help.
