How many cooling fans does HP du15s 2040tu have? If it has two I think my notebook's left side fan is not working, the air in goes in only from the right side and the exit is in the front (at the bottom of the screen). And is it usual that the area between touchpad and fingerprint scanner gets hot sometimes?

Your machine is an  HP 15s-du2040tu (not HP du15s 2040tu), its specs

It only has one fan, part #  L52034-001.
