HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 (2P6B1AV)

Hello,

I purchased an HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2xxx on 23/03/22 with an extended warranty of 3 years (Platinum Plan) from an offline store (CROMA) but it still shows expired on the website.

So, I have used the laptop for 2 years and I got to know that we need to change thermal paste frequently,

So,

1) I have to change the thermal pasting and,

2) The laptop is facing a heating issue and while using the laptop for heavy work or for playing games the fans start making sounds. These are the issues I am facing currently.

So please guide me through what are the potential fixes for this.

Can I get customer support to fix this at my house?

Hi @Suraj_K,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing some thermal and fan-related issues with your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop.

Here's a guide on how to address these problems:

Step 1

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and  Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

  • Heating Issue and Fan Noise: Heating issues and loud fan noises during heavy workloads or gaming sessions are often related to inadequate cooling. Here are some potential fixes:
  • Check for Dust Buildup: Dust accumulation can obstruct airflow and cause overheating. Use compressed air or a soft brush to clean out the vents and fans.
  • Elevate the Laptop: Place the laptop on a flat, hard surface to ensure proper airflow. Using a laptop cooling pad with additional fans can also help improve cooling.
  • Update Drivers and BIOS: Ensure that your laptop's drivers and BIOS are up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can improve thermal management. HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15- ...
  • Adjust Power Settings: In Windows, you can adjust power settings to prioritize cooling. Set the power plan to "High Performance" and adjust advanced settings to ensure the CPU cooling policy is set to active.
