HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 (4U9E8AV)

New laptop with Win 11. Already had successful updates including 2023-02 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5022497). No Coolsense icon loads on boot.

I downloaded the Coolsense program from HP, but during install process it says it needs .NET Framework 3.5, and gives option to install it. That goes to a Microsoft site and the version it wants to download is several years old!

! didn't continue to with this download process. Windows Update log shows I have the latest .NET Framework 3.5 already on my laptop, so what is going wrong. Or . . . do I need to ven care if Coolsense is running? (I am not a gamer, laptop is always on an office desk, work is ordinary business apps and email.)

Any advise will be greatly appreciated!

Hi:

Not all HP notebooks support the Coolsense software.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the newer HP Command Center app from the Microsoft Store works for your notebook.

HP Command Center - Microsoft Store Apps

It offers a few thermal profiles you can set.

Thanks for the advise. HP Command Center apparently loads only to Envy and Spectre models--not Pavilions. As for Coolsense itself, it's not worth the risk of loading onto a new Windows 11 laptop that old, old version of .NET Framework 3.5 that the downloadable Coolsense says it want to install. Maybe these new laptops with SSDs that are too thin to have DVD drives don't need fans and cooling. I don't upgrade machines every year or two, so I'm probably just way behind the times.

Cheers!

You're very welcome.

I only have that app installed on an old HP 350 G1 notebook from 2013 which has an Intel 4th gen core processor.

I am running W11 on it and I installed Net.framework 3.5 from the Windows control panel>programs>turn windows features on or off.

Then I checked the box to install Net framework 3.5 and it installed automatically.

I did not have to leave Windows to download it.

I still submit that the HP Coolsense app is not supported for your notebook since it is much newer than the notebooks it was supported in.

(My old laptop. with Coolsense, is a 2015 Pavilion under Win 10.)

The HP Coolsense install procedure wants that .NET Framework 3.5 downloaded as part of its install process, but Mr. Softie says no way, it's already on the system.

Well, [1]the apps list after I brought up my 2023 Paviion under Windows 11 didn't include Coolsense; and now, [2]the HP download for Coolsense won't install per above. [3]Sounds like I don't need the feature . . . and that's that. Onward to real life!
