HP Pavilion Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everybody,

I recently bought an HP Pavilion, but I didn't catch how many cores the CPU has. In technical specifications there's written:

·         N° Cores / N° Thread: 4/8 (2 physical processors, 4 logics)

So, how many cores does my CPU have?

Many thanks

BlueJay

Hi David,

thanks for answering me. I did as you suggested and I'm quite sure my pc has 2 physical cores (see attached pic). What I still don't catch is what a logical processor is (my pc should have 4 of them as reported in the task manager pic).

My PC is a  PAVILION -15 - AB022NL.

Many thanks.

Hi BlueJay,

Let me know the exact model of laptop.

You can also go to task manager (right-click on application bar at bottom of desktop and click on task manager) . If necessary click on more details in lower left corner of the window and go to performance tab. Select CPU on the list in the left and you will see in the Window on the right how many cores the PC has.

Hope it helps,

Hi,

Yes your PC has two cores and has hyperthreading meaning that each core can accept 2 threads at the same time. This is what logical processors mean. If the CPU does not have Hyperthreading it can only receive one thread at a time. So in a way it is as if each core acts as two cores. This is very oversimplified. However I have included links where you can read more about this.
