HP Laptop 17-by0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope it finds someone who can help me. I bought my laptop in February 2019, and it has been well taken care of. Light use: bill pay, general internet use, etc. No children use the computer. An issue started last week, where every time I try to close the screen, it pulls apart the bottom of the computer in the upper right corner near the hinge. Like I can see the insides of the computer. I can press on it and click it back into place and close the lid, but this happens every time. When it's finally closed, the hinge in that corner seems loose and moves around a bit. It feels like something has happened to whatever holds all of the plastic pieces together inside. The computer isn't that old, and this is a concerning issue. I took it to Staples, where I purchased it, but they just gave me the HP phone number and I didn't get anywhere with the automated service. Any advice?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

I have the same problem. Laptop only 2 years old and not heavily used. Is HP standing behind their products?

It seems like they’re unfortunately not, once it’s out of warranty. I was offered to send it back for repair for $300. I’ll pass. I hope maybe you get a different result!

Hi. This exact thing happened to me! I was lucky in that it was still under warranty (barely). I ended up sending it to them and they did fix it - somewhat. I still have to press it just a bit when closing. It took about 10 days total. Must be a common issue from what I have read here.
