OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop 16-k0000 (665B4AV)

I opened the back cover of the laptop to clean the cooling system and add more RAM. On the motherboard, I found 2 places with corrosion (oxidation). The laptop has never had contact with water and there are no traces of water inside around the oxides. Corrosion is most likely a factory defect that will probably disable the laptop in the future. I would like to file a warranty claim but not sure how to do this properly since everything is currently working fine. But this if definately a problem which cannot be ignored while my warranty is running out.

Have anybody seen this before?

it is quite unusual.

You can clean it off with a cotton swab and denatured alcohol, preferably 94% and higher.

You can file a warranty claim if you don't want to do it yourself.

Thats is indeed unusual especially considering I'm not carrying laptop around and its always working as a stationary device in a vertical stand with external displays since the date of buy. I dont even open lid.

I can't imagine how could this happened because of "user fault".

Thanks for reply. I'll try to contact official reps in my region.

" I dont even open lid."

Those images that you provided are a rather strong indicator that the "lid" has been opened.

let me rephrase for better understanding:
"I dont even open lid for everyday laptop use because laptop fixed in vertical stand, with lid closed, 99% of the time".

Here's a sample from the internet similar to my setup:
