G6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
So i checked the hp support pages and im lead to believe that the cpu in my hp g6 is done for. I get the one blinking light on the caps lock led and the constant orange light on the f12 led. Im thinking about replacing it with a cpu i found on ebay, but im not sure if it'll work on my laptop because i dont have the tools on me right now to take apart my notebook and check for sure which cpu is currently installed. Any advice? The two available cpu's i found on ebay are HP Pavillion G6 AMD E2-3000 series And the HP Pavillion G6 AMD Phenon II

We need the full model number to tell you which you can use. And I will say I have serviced a lot of laptops with blink codes that looked like a bad cpu but turned out to be the motherboard. You should be able to find a G6 motherboard with AMD processor pretty cheap. I believe the ones with E2 processors are soldered on the motherboard, anyway. Not sure of that until I get the model number and am able to bring up the correct service manual.

You don't want an E2 by the way.
