HP Notebook - 14-am003tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I know it might sound crazy,but I tried gaming on this pc(HP Notebook - 14-am003tu).I upgraded my ram to 8gb,and now I can play some of the low end(less hardware intensive)games.However, my laptop heats up to 78-80 degree celsius and the cpu slow downs to 0.3ghz.What can I do?
p.s-As of now I can't buy a gaming computer.

@Inticer

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is overheating and thermal throttling when you play games.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I would like to inform you that it is a normal behavior of the computer. As the games use maximum resources and it causes the computer to overheat. The computer is not designed for gaming so the cooling system available on the computer is not enough for gaming.

Having said that, I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver on the computer from the below link and check if it helps.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101001-101500/sp101424.exe

Graphics: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp85001-85500/sp85378.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I was able to update the bios.However,I have more recent/newer versions of audio and graphic driver,so am I supposed to downgrade it?And will it fix the thermal throttling issue?
Another thing:Is there any way to control fan speed?

@Inticer

Yes, install the graphics driver from the link I have shared and test.

That's unfortunate. Let us run a test on the hardware components of the PC

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.

Also, follow the steps mentioned in this article - Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating.

Let me know how it goes.
