Hello.
I have HP dv6-3173ee with intel core i7 720qm processor and i bought intel core i7 840qm CPU to upgrade the laptop. In hp service manual it said that intel core i7 840qm CPU is one of the compatible processors. Yet I tried to upgrade but it did not work. The BIOS version is F.29 ( latest version) and iam using 8gb ram at 1333mhz and 512 gb ssd. So how to make it works, please.
can you help me in this problem?
Thank you

Hi:
You need a different motherboard for the quad core processor. That is why it didn't work.
See chapter 3 of the service manual, starting on page 22, item 11 for the list of motherboards.

Hi:
Sorry that I misread your original post.
So you already had the i7-720 QM core processor, and wanted to upgrade to the i7-840QM.
It should have worked, and unfortunately I have no idea why it didn't.
Is it possible the i7-840QM processor you have is no good?
