I have a laptop ho elitebook 8740w,

I can upgrade a cpu with intel i5 580m cpu? Actually i have a intel i5 540m cpu...

 

Intel i5 580m cpu overheat more intel i5 540m?

Hi:

 

Below is the link to the quickspecs for your mobile workstation.

The supported dual core processors can be found on page 5.

 

Below is the link to the processor comparison specs for the 540 and 580.

 

They both have the same wattage and thermal specs, so I would imagine the 580 would run about the same temp as the 540.
