Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just got my laptop back from HP as they were repairing a broken USB port and replacing the keyboard.

When I boot up a graphics intensive game like Assassins Creed Odyssey it will crash within 5 minutes. When I turn it on again it says "shut down due to overheating warning" and says it is at 90 degrees, yet I know its not as you can tell by how stone cold the laptop is to touch. I have updated drivers and googled to see if it was just the game as it is poorly optimized. No fixes there.
Edit: The CPU and GPU are also getting sucked dry by everything, even the smallest things like opening a program cause it to spike. Its also very jumpy, like can be 1% and then 46% then 23% then 12% etc

Any ideas?

Many thanks 😄

I understand your concerns

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Thank you

Thank you for your prompt reply, I have received and replied  to the private message. I just want to check that your 'warning' - "Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details)." This is just a reminder or have I included that in my post? I don't think I have but would just like to make sure for future reference
