I am trying to recover a zbook with corrupted BIOS, (two long and two short beeps). Win + B keay metod does not work. So I want to create a BIOS recovery flash drive.
After downloading proper files (sp103696 or sp101330.exe) on a different HP machine and following instructions (HP video etc.), I get the message "The system BIOS file is missing or corrupt. The system BIOS will not be updated". As result, the option "Create Recovery USB flash drive" cannot be activated.
If I proceed with "backup", the app creates a copy of BIOS from current machine, in the same directory.
If I start the process over, the tool would proceed with creating a USB flash drive, but with this newly backed up BIOS.
Upon inspection, it turns out that the saved binary image is 8,192 kB (apparently with correct size for a 8 MB SPI BIOS chip (64 Mbits)), while the originally extracted Nxx_0145.bin file had a size of 9,216 kB (which is apparently wrong). I tried several spXXXXXX.exe files, they all do the same, 9,216 kB. Is this a kind of extra security, or what?
Is there a way to get the .bin file of correct size?

What is the complete product name of your HP mobile workstation?
The downloaded BIOS softpack file should be 12.1 mb
