When I use the touchpad, the cursor constantly lags and jumps around. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, even disabling it, but all to no avail. How can I fix this?

Hi @SorenS61,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing cursor lag when using the touchpad on your HP ENVY x360 15.6 Inch 2-In-1 laptop, there are several potential solutions you can try to resolve the issue.
Update Touchpad Drivers: Make sure your touchpad drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can often cause performance issues. You can update them by going to the HP website, searching for your specific laptop model, and downloading the latest touchpad drivers for your system.
Adjust Touchpad Settings: You can adjust touchpad settings in Windows to improve its responsiveness. To do this:
- Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Touchpad."
- Experiment with different sensitivity settings to see if it improves the cursor lag.
Disable Palm Rejection: Sometimes, palm rejection settings can be overly sensitive, causing the touchpad to misinterpret your input. Try disabling palm rejection or adjusting its sensitivity to see if that helps.
Clean the Touchpad: Sometimes, a dirty touchpad surface can cause erratic cursor movement. Clean the touchpad gently with a microfiber cloth to remove any dirt or smudges.
Check for Software Conflicts: Third-party software or drivers can sometimes interfere with touchpad performance. Try booting your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, this suggests that a third-party application may be the culprit.
Check for Malware: Malware can also cause performance issues on your laptop. Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out malware as a potential cause.
Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates can include fixes for hardware-related issues.
BIOS Update: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model on the HP website. Sometimes, BIOS updates can address hardware issues.
Hardware Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there could be a hardware problem with the touchpad or its connection to the motherboard.
External Mouse Test: To isolate the issue further, connect an external USB mouse to your laptop and see if it exhibits the same lag. If the external mouse works fine, the problem is likely related to the touchpad itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
