HP Pro Book 430 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I have HP Pro Book 430 G2 laptop with default hardware which is 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L RAM option.

I want to put 2 pieces 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM instead of DDR3L RAM.

Do you think that does it damage to the other hardware or laptop to use DDR3 RAM usage instead of DDR3L RAM usage?

Thanks for quick support.

I NEED VERY URGENT FEEDBACK PLEASE!

Hi:

I am pretty sure that you will get a BIOS memory error report using DDR3 memory.

The notebook was designed to run on DDR3L (1.35V) memory.

Hi Paul,

Actually I put DDR3 RAMs into my laptop and now it's working. But I couldn't be sure that there will be damage on long term usage. I guess laptop couldn't be turned on after I put the RAMs into it, but it's turned on somehow.

Hi:

Did the BIOS give a message that you were using the wrong voltage memory?

If not, you will probably be OK with the DDR3 memory.

Hi,

No warning message or another thing.

So you think that there won't be any issue due to no warning message exists?

HP Recommended

I think you will be fine then.

I have read posts on this forum on similar model Elitebooks such as the G1, where if you install DDR3 memory in a slot meant for DDR3L memory, the BIOS reports an error that the wrong voltage memory was installed.

I think the worst case scenario is your battery will drain faster with the 1.5V memory.

As you can see from the RAM slot of laptop, slot is saying (Not RAM) 1.5V. So maybe chipset could work with DDR3 but 4210U processor could have an issue. Or I am just assumping 🙂

I think all of the slots are labeled that way, but they are supposed to use 1.35V memory.

Starting with the 4th gen Intel core processors, the memory spec was changed from DDR3 to DDR3L.

As I wrote...if the BIOS did not report an error, then you should be just fine.

So thanks for your support Paul.
