HP 6735b

I have 2 x 2GB Samsung DDR2/PC26400 RAM in my HP 6735b (Turion X2 RM-72).

It seems that the dual channel mode is not yet active.

CPU-Z shows no information in the 'Channel#' field and GPU-Z detects 3.2 GB/s in the 'Bandwith' field (as seen in the screenshots below)

I think the bandwidth in GPU-Z should be at least 6.4 GB/s in dual channel mode.

I wonder how I get dual channel enabled on my notebook? Thank you very much!

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and perhaps that will tell you if the memory is running in dual channel or single channel mode.

The 400 MHz doesn't mean anything.

If the memory is running in dual channel mode, you multiply the 400 MHz by 2 and that is how you get the 800 MHz.

Whether it is running in single channel or dual channel mode, that number will not change.

When you launch the program the summary report is in 3 sections.

The middle section has the Memory Mode info.

If it shows up in that app, the memory mode will indicate single channel or dual channel.

FWIW, the service manual indicates the notebook supports dual channel (chapter 1).

Thank you.

I tried this with 2 ram modules:

and with one:

The 'Mode' field is still empty.

The memory-benchmark results are:

with 1 bar:

What do you think, is dual channel mode active?

You're very welcome.

Based on what the manual indicates (dual channel supported), and the faster transfer speeds with two chips vs one, I would conclude the memory is running in dual channel mode.
