My new computer doesn't recognize the built in DVD drive. It doesn't show up in This PC or Device Manager. It is a boot option in the BIOS.

It should have a software to read Optical dics. Can it read a CD (for example musics) ? Please download and install the following software, it supports nearly all media formats.

Note: for the first time you may have to manually open it, after that it should open automatically.

Regards.

Thanks, but VLC can't see the drive, either. I can put in a disc and close the drive. I hear the motor spin the disc. The computer just doesn't see it. It isn't an option in any software or Device Manager, or This PC. It has power, but is not detected. If it is missing a driver, how can I add a driver when the computer can't see the drive?
