Hi everyone,
So recently I started to face multiple problems related to battery and it reallly messed things up. I will try to clear it as much as possible.
It all started with my battery charging light blinking when its not charging or even powered off, other than that everything working fine. Then suddenly it started hibernating itself saying that cooling vents were blocked, however fans and air output was perfectly working and i checked it. Now just recently it stopped charging, it charges occasionally but mostly not, and laptop aint even coming on unless power cord is plugged in.
Some time it shows battery not detected and sometime it shows plugged in but not charging.
Can someone please help me as I am really facing trouble in my daily work.
Thanks
MNUH

Hi @MNUH,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand that the battery is not getting detected on your laptop.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Did it happen after a recent software update?
Does the laptop shutdown right away if the charger is disconnected from the laptop?
Have you tried to use a different compatible charger and check if it helps?
Did this happen after a power surge or power outage?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.
Resetting the Bios to Defaults:
Resetting the defaults in the BIOS returns the BIOS to the factory settings that your notebook was shipped with.
To reset the BIOS defaults, follow the steps below.
-
Press the power button to turn on the notebook and repeatedly press f10 to enter the BIOS setup.
-
Navigate through the BIOS and select the option to restore the BIOS defaults. The option will be called Restore Defaults or Setup Defaults, or something similar.
-
Confirm that you want to restore the BIOS defaults, and then select the option to save and exit the BIOS setup.
-
Once the computer reboots, please check if the battery gets detected.
I would suggest here is to update the Bios, and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Please follow the steps to uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control from Device manager:
Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to run the test on the battery from F2.(Click on Component test - Scroll down to Power)
Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @MNUH,
As I understand the laptop battery replacement is needed,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you check with the HP Parts Store for replacement parts?
If the issue occurred after an accident (such as dropping it on the floor, etc.) there could be a additional charges in such cases to get the computer repaired via HP service centers.
Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here) or simply Contact HP.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

@Jeet_singh
Thanks for the assitance you gave.
I looked over these links and proceeded accordingly.
However, regarding your previous question; it didn't face any physical damage. My battery does hold some charge and will continue on working when power cord is diconnected, but the issue is that it ain't showing how much battery left or when is charging and when is not.
I have ordered another battery which I hope will fix the issue.
Thanks again
MNUH
