HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-dk0244tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my laptop model is Pavilion Gaming 15-dk0244tx, it comes with a Samsung DDR4 8GB 2666mhz CL19 1Rx8 (M471A1K43CB1-CTD) ram in slot 1.

  1. If I add on a new DDR4 ram with the same density 8GB, same speed 2666mhz and the same latency CL19 in slot 2, but a different brand with slot 1, are there any compatibility issues?
  2. If 8+8 with the same speed, same latency, same density. Is the dual channel enabled automatically after I installed the new ram stick in slot 2?
  3. Is Crucial DDR4 8GB RAM (CT8G4SFRA266) or Kingston DDR4 8GB RAM (KCP426SS8/8GB) better? Both provided lifetime warranty.

Hi:

The memory from a different manufacturer having the same specs should work fine with the Samsung memory chip currently installed.

it will support dual channel.

If you researched both the Crucial and Kingston sites and that is the memory part # they recommend for your notebook, I suppose either one should work fine.

I have only used Crucial memory in the past when I bought memory, so I don't know much about Kingston.

I just find it easier to look up on their website for the model PC's I have.

I have HP business PC's that came with Kingston memory installed by HP.
