EliteBook x360 G3 i7 Ref. 3ZH10EA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all.

Using a new EliteBook x360 G3, I have serious troubles to connect to a 5GHz wifi network. This has been tested on 5 different networks across 4 locations.

When in Windows, clicking the Wireless icon in the taskbar brings up the available WiFi networks. Anything in the 2.4GHz shows up immediatly. With 5GHz, sometimes they show, others they don't, other they show up eventually, and certain times I have to disable and reenable WiFi or Airplane Mode on the laptop and then they finally show up. Once they do show, I can click connect or wait fot the network to auto-connect. Problem is, more often than not, it fails. And I have to try again, and again, and again until finally it connects. Very rarely does it connect first time round or automatically. Seldom does it connect on second try, usually it'll connect at third or fourth try.

As for WiFi Direct, I have a LG Smart TV. Once or twice I have been able to cast to the TV wirelessly without issue, at first try. However, most often, I click connect, I can see the TV recognizes the attempt and gets ready to connect, yet the attempt always fails on the PC and the TV remains in a state where it's waiting to connect. Finally the TV will time out after a minute or so. The fact I am able to connect some times tells me it's not a TV issue, so much so that with other devices (from cell phone, an older HP PC, my personal CLEVO laptop), I can connect consistently and without issues.

This is my second HP device to exhibit such problems and behaviours with the other one being the  Hp Elite X2. This one behaved similarly with the 5GHz issue, yet would connect to the LG TV most of the times. Some other HP (older and less pro grade) devices here at the company connect to the TV without problems and have no issue connecting to WiFi. Problem, if any, seems to be limited to newer devices, if that makes any sense.

I should also state that the WiFi to LG TV issue happens regardless if the Laptop or TV are connected to the 5GHZ or 2.4GHz network. I have tried all combinations and still same issue.

Anyone have a clue as to what might be wrong? The laptop is little over a month old but has exhibited this behaviour since the beginning.
