Has anyone else had a problem with there disc drive falling out? Sounds silly but a screw must have been lost- is this easily replacable?

See page 28:

 

Service Manual

 

2 things needed to hold in the DVD drive: 1. There is a little metal piece bolted to the back of the drive that has a screwhole in it; and 2. The screw. 

 

Check to see if the screw is there and it not it is a  Phillips 2.0x2.5 screw. You may want to keep a few extras around.

Can we have your model number? In most cases yes the DVD drive is held in with a single screw and is very easy to replace.
