HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC 14-dy1000 (436S6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have the Pavilion X360 14-DY1058TU which has in specification ability to charge by USB Type C power delivery with 65W charger . The ability to charge by USB is one of the reason I chose this model .
I have bought a Heymix brand charger that is 65W 20V type C that should be compatible according to specifications .
The laptop will charge from this using type C port but only when the laptop is turned off . It does not show the laptop to be charging from type C when it is turned on .
I have looked up this issue and found other people have encountered the problem and rectified this by using an HP branded USB type C charger . The proposed theory is that HP laptops will software lock non-HP brand USB chargers so we will have to buy HP charger in order to be able to use and charge the laptop simultaneously .
Can I please have confirmation that if I want to be able to charge my laptop by type C USB while it is on I will need to purchase HP brand USB charger ? Thank you
