Microsoft Windows 11

I have purchased an HP FX900 Pro 1TB ssd to replace the 250GB ssd that my laptop has.  The old ssd is VERY thin with nothing protecting it.  The new ssd has a black strip that is removeable, and what is underneath is a white sticky strip.  And it is attached to another 'covering'.  It is maybe 3 times thicker than the old ssd.   I don't think it's a heat sink, but maybe it is.  Do I remove the black strip or anything from ssd?  It looks like there's room for the entire thing to fit, without causing an issue.  Just want to know it I remove the black strip?  Or, will it overheat with that on it?

Thanks, Curtis

Hi @gorow61

If that a heat sink, you must see if when closing the laptop cover there is no pressure on the disk, if not you can leave it, otherwise you must remove it.
