I am having HP 15-ay078tx laptop. Recently I have decided to add an SSD to it. Without opening the box, may I know whether my device (15-ay078tx) supports M.2 SSD? If so, which SSD device (250 GB) can I buy? Please help and suggest.

Hi:
Your notebook does not have a M.2 slot for a SSD.
Only the 15-ay0xx notebooks that came with a SATA M.2 SSD have the slot.
If you want to install a SSD, you will have to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

Ok, Thank you @Paul for confirming. I have another question. What is the MAX GB of RAM that it (HP 15-ay078tx laptop) support? Currently the system has 8GB and I was planning to add extra 16GB. Will it support?
As per manual, it is saying that I can have a total of 16GB RAM whereas the HP Support Assistant says I can have up to 32GB RAM.
Could you please confirm? Thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.
The manual indicates that 2 x 8 GB is the max, but there are some notebooks that will support 2 x 16 GB of memory despite what the manual indicates.
If the HPSA indicates you can install 2 x 16 GB of memory, that is probably correct.
You can get a max memory confirmation by doing this...
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If you decide to add a 16 GB memory chip, I recommend this part number...DDR4-2400 memory will run at 2133 MHz.
Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT16G4SFD824A | Crucial IN
If you want to try the generic Crucial Basic memory, that costs considerably less...the 2666 MHz memory will work fine but at 2133 MHz.

One last question to you, just for knowledge. You mentioned about this part number "DDR4-2400". May I know why 2400, and why not the 2133 MHz? My slot 1 has 2133 MHz RAM.
I was thinking to buy this: https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B09XXVX76B/?th=1
Any difference between your selection and mine? Please guide.

Hi:
If you want to try that memory, it should be OK.
Usually you can't even find DDR4-2100 memory anymore, and if you can, it is expensive.
But you may want to look at the Crucial Basic DDR4-2666 memory which seems to be less expensive than the memory you found.
Remember...the faster memory is designed to automatically bridge to the fastest speed your notebook's processor can run the memory at.
