Dear community,

Im looking for a proper USB C docking station with a device charging feature for my HP ENVY Laptop 13-ah0xxx.
Just like the HP USB-C DOCK G4 that for some unexplainable reason is not compatbile with the Envy model series.

Is there an Envy user out there who has allocated a good alternative? Your feedback would be much appreciated.

*im not interested in the below mentioned products.

HP USB-C UNIVERSAL DOCK
HP USB-C MINI DOCK

Thanks in advance!

Hello @carl_,

Any generic USB-C hub should theoretically work with your laptop.

According to specifications, your laptop supports USB-C PD so charging should technically work. May I know where you got the information that the HP USB-C Dock G4 is not compatible? Just wondering. Although HP only lists business laptops as compatible, it should technically allow the connection.

According to HP's Marketing database, the "HP Spectre USB-C™ Travel Dock" is compatible. You could check that out, though once again, any USB-C hub should technically work.

Hello Eddy,

thanks a lot for your reply in this matter.

I ordered the USB-C Dock G4 and I received it yesterday but I am not satisfied with the performance of the interface. The laptop did not recognize the docking unit, I had to unplug/replug the USB C several of times to regain connection, the power button on the docking station did not work. It was basically not a good fit for that price.

I have indeed looked at the HP Spectre USB-C. I am using my laptop for work and it will be hooked up to the docking station 90% of the time, so my ideal model should be a bit more "solid", hence it should offer a few more USB connection possibilities, not slide around due its small size and have a power button. I know, very demanding 🙂

Thanks again for your interaction, much appreciated. I will have a look at alternative brands.

Best regards,

Carl
