Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion 15cs0601ng laptop with Windows 11 version 23H2.
As I wanted to connect 2 monitors to the laptop, I purchased the HP Docking Station G5.
I had already contacted HP Support in advance to find out whether my laptop was compatible with this docking station. This was confirmed to me by one of them.
However, this does not quite correspond to reality. After I had connected the docking station to the laptop, there was unfortunately no connection to my two monitors, and the power supply via the docking station did not work either.
However, my laptop seems to recognise the docking station, as the keyboard and mouse, which are connected to the docking station via a dongle, work.
I have now updated the firmware of the docking station and also carried out a BIOS update on the laptop. The result remains the same.
How can the docking station be restored to full functionality? (Another Dell laptop is working perfectly).
Many thanks in advance.

HP Specs for your model:

Seem to say it has all the right hardware, being Power Delivery and Alt-DP video from the USB-C ports. The dock should power the laptop, charge the battery and provide display output. You are connecting the dock to the USB-C port right?

The Service Manual:
conflicts with the specs and says the USB-C port is data only. Which is more consistent with the behavior you are seeing. Devices which only require a simple usb connection like mouse work fine but advanced stuff like charging and video does not. I would say we have inaccurate specifications and you will not get full performance from that dock. Apologies but the Experts here generally do not work for HP including myself.

Hi Huffer,
thanks a lot for your efforts and your quick reply.
Nethertheless, this result is quite dissatisfying, especially asking the official HP support before purchasing.
But I assume there will be no solution for my issue.
Am I right ?

I've been here at the Forum for many years and long ago learned not to speak for HP or predict what they will do. At a minimum they should refund you for the dock or possibly credit toward a different dock that has what is called DisplayLink technology. This will give you video output from a data only USB connection. It will not give you charging capability. Good luck.
