You have seen the Manual but here it is again:
Yes you can have a 2.5 inch disk, SATA either a hdd or ssd and then also an M.2 disk.
But you can also have an M.2 disk mounted in the 2.5 inch bay with an adapter.
See pages 57-62 of the Manual
The shot above from the Manual shows where the dedicated M.2 slot is. You just need a screw to mount a SATA type 2280 form factor M.2 disk in that location. The disk will be oriented at right angles to the hard drive.
