@Almodroque

The manual says the series supports

  • Two SODIMM slots - Non-accessible/non-upgradeable
    DDR4-2400 Dual Channel Support (DDR4-2400 downgrade to DDR4-2133)
    Supports up to 16 GB max system memory
    8192 MB (4096 MB x 2)
    12288 MB (8192 MB +4096 MB)
    16384 MB (8192 MB x 2)  (your machine)

I believe the following set works and Crucial guarantees it

Hi,

Your notebook will support 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM (2x16GB) even if the service manual mentions 16GB.

The RAM will run at 2133MHz.

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/envy-17m-ae011dx#MEMORYFilters

On page 35 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install the RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05635976

Another upgrade you should consider, is inserting an M2 SSD or replacing the hard drive with a 2.5"SSD.

Hope it helps,

David
