Hello,
I just purchased a usb-c charging dock (100W adaptor, 85W max for laptop charging) from Amazon hoping that I could turn my HP Envy 17T ae1xx into a functional desktop. However, when I connect the usb-c cable from the dock into my laptop, the laptop does not charge.
I have a wired keyboard and mouse connected to the dock and can confirm that they operate as expected on the laptop, but again, the laptop does not charge.
I've seen so much conflicting information on the web (some folks say that this laptop does support usb-c charging while others definitively say no), I'm hoping that someone here could really help me out.
By the way, just to ensure that the usb-c dock was functional, I connected the usb-c dock cable to my Samsung A8 tablet and the device instantly began to fast charge.
Thanks

What is your HP Envy 17T ae1xx ? It should have same ports as the following machine
It ONLY has 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) port which does NOT support Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to Charge your machine.
Regards.

Thank you for the quick feedback and confirming Banhien!
Lastly, I can still connect the dock to my laptop for peripherals such as wired keyboard, wired mouse and dual monitors, correct? I'd just need to use the supplied adaptor for charging the laptop when necessary.
Thanks

Yes, you still connect USB-C to a dock to connect to other device. Finding a right dock is not an easy task but you can find thaousands of USB-A docks with can do the job.
I bought a cheap dock on eBay for A$70.
HP has a similar dock
