Hi HP Community,
I need help determining which type of SSD (NVMe or SATA) is compatible with my HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-ba0xx laptop. Below are the key details of my system:
- Laptop Model: HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-ba0xx
- Processor: Intel Pentium Gold 4415U (Kaby Lake-U)
- Motherboard: HP 830F
- Current Storage: 500GB WDC WD5000LPCX-60VHAT0, Serial ATA 6Gb/s
- RAM: 8GB DDR4
- Operating System: Windows 10 Professional (x64)
I’ve attached photos of my motherboard and SSD slot for better reference. Can you please confirm whether my laptop supports only M.2 SATA SSDs, or if it also supports M.2 NVMe SSDs?
Thank you in advance for your help!ssd slot image 80mm(8 cm)

Hi:
Unfortunately, we don't have any feedback on whether the models with the Intel Pentium processors support NVMe SSD's.
The models with the Intel core processors will support NVMe SSD's.
Generally speaking, on notebooks that old that have Pentium processors, the M.2 slot only supports SATA SSD's.
If you can buy a NVMe SSD that you can return if it doesn't work or know someone that has one you can try out, then you can try one.
If not, I would play it safe and install a M.2 SATA SSD.
