HP ProBook 11 EE G2
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I own an HP ProBook 11 EE G2 and it has a 2.5 inch slot and an additional M.2 slot beside the WLAN card. The Bios inform that it has a M.2 slot.

I already tried an NVME SSD but it did not work. Now I would like to try again upgrading the storage installing an SATA M.2 drive into the laptop but I am afraid that it may not work, and I did not find any info about this m.2 slot.

It is said that this computer have a M.2 slot but as a matter of fact it is an adapter to install m.2 sata into the 2.5 inch drive location.

Is it possible then install an M.2 2242 SATA SSD and a 2.5 inch drive (I want to use a bigger drive to storage using a 1TB hard drive) or the M.2 slot is not functional?

Thanks, Walter

@delazaro

Its specs

         https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-probook-11-ee-g2/9112098/document/c04951716#AbT5

Supports for the following single hard drive configuration:

  • It Supports single 7 mm (2.5 in) SATA Hard Drives
  • But it ALSO has other option M.2 2280 solid state drives (also SATA).

Machine can have one or the other but not both. Normally you can use 2242 (half length)

Regards.

Banhien, thaks for your answer but although the specs says otherwise, the computer have PHISICALY a M.2 2242 slot sided to the WLAN card. AND the BIOS have an option to activate or deactivate an M.2 conection.

Once I bought an NVME 2242 but did not work. So I concluded that it could be only SATA M.2 compatible.

In order not to buy something that won´t work I would like to be sure if anyone have tested this alternative and if it worked out.

Thanks, Walter
