Hi all,

I have the HP ProBook 440 G8 Notebook PC (2Q528AV). How can I check if it supports NVME Gen 4 (PCIE 4.0 x 4) and whether it can reach transfer speed of ~7000MB/s? I can't such information in the manuals.

I plan to upgrade its internal NVME SSD to something like the Samsung's 980 Pro.

Hi:

Your notebook's NVMe slot is PCIe Gen 3.

You can look up the PCIe specs for your notebook's processor on the Intel website and it will show you the PCIe connectivity specification.

For example:  The best processor offered in the 440 G8 model series was the Intel® Core™ i7-1185G7.

Intel® Core™ i7-1185G7 Processor

While the processor itself is PCie Gen 4, you will notice that the Chipset / PCH PCIe Revision is Gen 3.

While the Samsung 980 Pro will work, it will only run at a max speed of around 3,500 MBPS.
