I wonder if it is worth to pay extra for PCIe 4 SSD for this laptop model or it will work at PCIe 3 speed?

According to your Service Manual- http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06649845.pdf  on page 1 it states they came with 1 or 2  TB, 2280, PCIe-3×4, NVMe, SS solid-state drive with TLC.

 

So it looks like no gen 4 support.

Hello @PavelCleveland .

The computer has a slot for PCIe 3.0 however you can place a PCIe 4 SSD because there is backward compatibility, however it will work at the maximum speed of PCIe 3.0.
