Hi @yugnfn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can use the USB Type‑C port for an external display if your HP notebook’s Type‑C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Many HP Victus and Pavilion models include this feature, but not all, so you need to confirm:

How to Check if Your Type‑C Port Supports Video Output

  • Look for a DisplayPort (DP) logo or Thunderbolt icon near the Type‑C port.
  • Check your laptop’s specifications on HP Support for “USB Type‑C with DisplayPort 1.4” or “Thunderbolt.”

If the port supports video, you can connect an external monitor through it.

Connecting to a VGA Monitor (ZEB-17A-LCD)

Since your monitor only has VGA, you’ll need:

  • USB‑C to VGA adapter (or USB‑C to HDMI + HDMI‑to‑VGA converter, but direct USB‑C to VGA is better).
  • Ensure the adapter supports DisplayPort Alt Mode for video output.

Important Notes

  • VGA is analog, so image quality will be limited compared to HDMI or DisplayPort.
  • If your Type‑C port is data-only (no video), the adapter will not work; you’ll need to use HDMI or a USB graphics adapter instead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
