Hi:

See page 12 of the quickspecs link below for the operating and non-operating temperature ranges...

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04924693.pdf

I suggest that if your notebook is subject to temperatures that exceed those ranges, that you transport it without the battery installed.

Then let the notebook get to room temperature before you connect the battery or AC power to it.

First of all thank you for the fast replay. About the battery, unfortunately I can't remove it because elitebook 1040 is a "ultrabook". Do you have any suggestion have to protect my laptop during winter? Now I only have laptop backpack and thin laptop sleeve/cover.

Thank you so much (and sorry about my broken English :D)

You're very welcome.

Perhaps you can put it in an insulated bag.

We have them in the United States that will keep things cold or warm for a short period of time.

Your notebook should fit in a bag such as this...

Its dimensions are 13.27 x 9.23 x 0.65 inches, and the bag's dimensions are 15 x 12 x 6"

that's a great idea, and yes we do have them here in FInland.

Again, thank you so much.
