Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Chapter 1 has the supported drive types.
Your notebook's M.2 slot supports NVMe SSD's, so either Samsung drive will work but the 980 should run cooler than the 970 because it is newer technology and supposedly designed for better cooling.
The 970 may provide slightly better performance.
Chapter 5 of the manual shows no SSD heatsink needs to be removed or replaced when installing a SSD.

Perfect, I think I might have to option for the 970 since the heat sink will be removed during installation which is due to space.one more thing. Does the board support Ram upgrade. At the moment, my ram is peg at 12 look at upgrading it to 32g at least

The Crucial memory report indicates that your notebook can support up to 2 x 16 GB of memory.

You can do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that 2 x 8 GB is the max.

You're very welcome.
There is no need to change any settings in the BIOS to install a SSD.
However, if you plan on keeping the 2.5" drive for storage, please read through this discussion.
