I am looking to get a Docking Station with Switch from AV Access (https://avaccess.com/products/idock-c10/) that notes the following:
"For the extended display mode on two screens, please make sure to use a USB-C laptop that supports DP alt mode and DP MST mode."
I have looked at the specs for my laptop at HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0003tx Product Specifications | HP® Support, which says the external ports are:
"2x USB Type-C™ Thunderbolt™ 3 (supports HP Sleep & Charge, DP1.4, PD 3.0, Data Transfer); 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo"
Can you please confirm if these USB-C ports support DP alt mode and DP MST mode?
Thanks.

I can not find the specs of your machine (15-df0003tx) BUT it should have same ports as the following machine
It has
- 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (10 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge);
- 1 Thunderbolt™ 3 (40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge)
BOTH ports support DP Alt mode. You can daisy change monitors.
Regards.

For others that end up here, this seems like a really great article:
* https://www.benq.com/en-us/knowledge-center/knowledge/usb-c-introduction-what-is-dp-alt-mode.html
So let's get this right:
* USB-C refers to the physical shape and design of the connector. In-and-of itself, it does not tell you what services/protocols are able to be delivered over that connector/cable.
* From the above article, I interpret that "DP alt mode" isn't *really* a thing. There's USB-C Alt Mode, which means your USB-C port can do more than just USB - i.e. it can do other technologies such as DisplayPort, ThunderBolt, Data Transfer, audio etc...
So for my case where the HP specs say the port is "2x USB Type-C™ Thunderbolt™ 3 (supports HP Sleep & Charge, DP1.4, PD 3.0, Data Transfer)" to me means:
* It does support DisplayPort (i.e. DP1.4 spec)
* DP MST (Multi-Stream Transport) appears to be a feature of DisplayPort 1.2 and newer, and therefore given this is DP 1.4 then this would support DP MST.
Anyone able to confirm this for me?
Can anyone confirm?
