Hi! I'm wondering whether my laptop will work with an eGPU, such as Razor Core X. My laptop's model is HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0007nu. The eGPU requires a Thunderbolt 3 port and I looked through my product specifications and it says "2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C™ with Thunderbolt™ 3 (40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)". It says "with Thunderbolt 3", despite it being a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C, which, from what I read, supports up to 10 Gb/s as opposed to 40 Gb/s that Thunderbolt 3 ports do. Other spectre models have 2 Thunderbolt™ 3 (Data Transfer up to 40 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge).
I would like to know what the difference is and whether the eGPU I'm thinking of ordering is going to be supported.

According to the Intel processor datasheet it does. There is far more information there about the chipset/processor technologies.

Take a look at the USB C subsystem specifications
Here is an X360 with specs similar to yours in an enthusiast eGPU build forum where the member is using an eGPU with his.
Perhaps you should state which eGPU you are considering in order to give a full picture of what you are looking at.

That should work without issue. Enjoy!

That's great! I would still like to know whether the 2 ports of my laptop support up to 40Gbps. I did look through the USB C subsystem specifications, but I'm not particularly tech-savvy, so I didn't really understand all of the information presented. My laptop specs page does state that both ports support up to 40Gbps signaling rate, which I'm not entirely sure what it means. Does that translate to 40Gbps transfer speeds too?
