I have a Pavilion 15-p144ne laptop which is drastically slow.
Whether the laptop has a compatible PCIe or M.2 slot to add an SSD?
I want to add an SSD and additional 8GB Ram. Can you please advice me the possibilities and best hardware to choose

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Chapter 1 has the supported drive types and memory upgrade info.
Your notebook can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory.
There are no M.2 SSD slots to add any kind of SSD.
If you want to upgrade to a SSD, you will need to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.
For a 2.5: SSD, I recommend the Crucial MX500 in a capacity that meets your needs and budget.
This is the 500 GB model.
Crucial MX500 500GB 6.35 cm (2.5-inch) SSD : Amazon.in: Computers & Accessories
For an 8 GB memory chip one of these:

Thank you so much for your quick response and detailed information.
Can you also please kindly advice if I can use a caddy tray to add this SSD to the CD/DVD ROM slot.
I will be booting the OS from this new SSD.
So adding the SSD using caddy to the CD/DVD ROM slot a wise choice considering performance improvement.

You're very welcome.
If you want the best performance out of your SSD, and you want to use a caddy, put the 2.5" mechanical hard drive in the caddy and the SSD where the hard drive is now.
I believe the SATA controller for the CD rom is only SATA II, because DVD drives are SATA I.
The controller where your notebook's hard drive is connected to is SATA III which will provide twice the read/write speeds over a SATA II port.
