I want to upgrade my laptops SSD from 256gb to 1TB , so wanted to know whether it supports Nvms M.2 SSds .
the ssd im looking to buy is:
wd black sn770 1tb PCIe Gen 4 nvme m.2
but im not sure about the current SSD specification

Your notebook's M.2 slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0.
A Gen 4.0 SSD will work but it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speed.
The chart shows the maximum transfer speeds from the various PCIe generations:
