I'm trying to upgrade my storage with this SSD, HP Original SSD S700 M.2 120GB SATA III 3D TLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive 6Gb/s

Like to know if this can be installed on my laptop.

Yes, you can replace the existing HDD. 

Even if the motherboard only supports SATA-2, not SATA-3, any SSD will still be much faster than your HDD.

 

You should be able to find a "tray" that holds a SSD, and the tray replaces the optical drive.

had the original hard-drive: 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA

and originally was shipped with Windows 8.1, although you have upgraded to Windows 10.

 

My thought is that your motherboard predates the popularity of adding M.2 ports.

 

Short answer: NO.

Okay and thank you for the answer. One more query, I can always replace my existing HDD or optical drive with a  SATA 3 SSD  like this one Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SATA 3 2.5-inch Solid State Drive (SUV400S37/120G) ?
