HP Laptop 14-ck0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

How do I know if my laptop has an SSD slot? I would like to upgrade it to HDD and just not sure if mine is compatible with an SSD.

System model is HP Laptop 14-ck0xxx

Thank you!

Only if it has a 7th or 8th gen Intel Core processor does it have a separate M.2 SSD slot. Otherwise, the only way to have an SSD is to replace the hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

2.5 inch and not the 3.5 inch SATA SSD? Thank you!

HP Recommended

3.5 is desktop size. SSDs are 2.5 inches wide just like laptop hard drives, or they are 2280 sized "gumstick" form factor..

I would like to suggest that you do not upgrade your HDD but install a 512 GB, PCIe, NVMe card. From the Service Manual It looks like your Laptop has the slot, but check to confirm.

Originally I had replaced my HDD with a SSD, but as I do a lot of downloading and deleting I decided to put my HDD back in and install a 512 GB, PCIe, NVMe Card. I use the PCIe as my boot drive and install as many programs and all my files to my HDD.

Yes @Retiredmseop  has it right except since you did not tell us the exact model of the laptop for all we know you already have a PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD. If you do not have one keep the HDD and install an M.2 as suggested. Also if you do not have an Intel Core processor you might not even have an M.2 slot.

HP Recommended

Let me have this one cleared, will I have it replaced? Or just keep the HDD and install M.2 slot? Since I don’t have an Intel Core Processor.
