HP Pavilion DV6-6135DX

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx laptop with Windows 7 that is at least 9 years old. I’m trying to see if it has bluetooth on it…if not, is there a way I can add it?

Thanks.

Hi:

The product specs for your notebook indicate that it did not come with built in Bluetooth networking, or that feature would have been listed along with the 802.11b/g/n WLAN wireless connectivity specification.

Since your notebook has a BIOS whitelist which prevents the installation of any other model wifi adapter from working, your only other option would be to purchase a USB Bluetooth adapter.

If you want to experiment with changing out the internal wifi card with one that is a combination wifi/bluetooth model, below is the link to the service manual.

Chapter 3 has the list of wifi cards offered in the model series.

Since your notebook has an AMD processor, you would be limited to installing one of the Broadcom wifi/bluetooth adapters listed.

You must get one that has the HP part number on it, or it definitely won't work.

You can search on eBay by the part number, and I suggest buying one that shows a picture of the actual 'Replace with HP spare' label showing the part number on it.

It was not delivered with a Bluetooth capable WLAN adapter.

You can use a usb bluetooth adapter.

There are many sold in Amazon that are thumbnail sized that you can plug in and leave installed

Sorry, I'm not very tech savvy so a lot of that went over my head. So I can't just go to amazon and type in "usb bluetooth adapter" and buy any of those? Can you direct me to exactly which one I would need or how I go about doing that? Not ignoring your response, it just was confusing to me on what I need to do if I'm interesting in purchasing an external one. So I can't just download anything?

Yes you can do a search on Amazon USB BLUETOOTH adapter.

That's where I bought mine

With windows 7 you will need to install Bluetooth drivers which will usually be found on the manufacturer's website.
