Hi! I would like to know whether the 2 ports of my laptop support up to 40 Gb/s. I have an HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0007nu. I'm thinking of getting an external SSD with thunderbolt support that will be capable of fast transfer speeds, such as 2800 MB/s. I looked through the official HP product specifications of the laptop and it says:
"2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C™ with Thunderbolt™ 3 (40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)"
As far as I know, Thunderbolt™ 3 supports up to 40 Gb/s data transfer, while USB 3.1 gen 2 supports only up to 10Gb/s. But apparently, my ports are somehow a USB 3.1 gen 2 AND Thunderbolt 3, which is baffling to me, since everywhere on the internet those two things are listed as two entirely different technologies, they just share the same Type-C form factor. The 40 gb/s are also listed as signaling rate in the HP specs page, rather than data transfer, so what does that mean? Is my laptop capable of such high transfer speeds?

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06528963
It has 2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C™ with Thunderbolt™ 3 (40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) ports which support 40Gb/s data transfer. You can also use Thunderbolt™ 3 ports to connect to monitors and charge your machine using a compatible USB-C charger with wattage rating 65W or above.
Regards.
