While buying laptop it has been told that this model support Thunderbolt 3 which is clearly mentioned in the model Brochure .

PFA Images for your reference.

Now after looking at these details I doubt that My model support Thunderbolt 3(My port is showing 6 from all the port details image stating USB type C port with HP Sleep and charge) .

Could you please check also let me know if there is any way we can test  .

Looking forward for reply .

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, you're in need of support,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Are you facing any issues with the USB Port?

As per user guide, your notebook does have USB Type-C Thunderbolt port with HP Sleep and Charge and USB Type-C port with HP Sleep and Charge. They both are one single port as shown in the picture (Number 6)

To test, you can try to charge your cell phone or other devices when the notebook is shut down.

Hope this answers your query 🙂

Cheers!

Than if I am not wrong thunderbolt 3 symbol should be there but I don't have the 2nd one under (6) I have only
1st one which I have highlighted in last post .
Mine is the one where it is mentioned as USB Type C port with HP sleep and charge not the USB type C thunderbolt port with HP sleep and charge .

Model details :HP Omen 15-dc0084tx (4RJ78PA) Laptop.

I think you can check from backend using the exact model number and confirm .

Thanks !! Looking forward for your reply.

Thanks for responding,

It's great to have you back 🙂

I have done my research and as I said before your notebook has both USB Type-C Thunderbolt port with HP Sleep and Charge and USB Type-C port with HP Sleep and Charge (2 in 1 port) (Number 6 port as shown in the picture)

If you wish to check the functionality of Thunderbolt port, you could connect the USB to HDMI converter to a TV or External Monitor.

Hope this answers your query,

Cheers!

Hello @Hardik_18 and @Flower_Bud,

As mentioned in the Maintenance and Service Guide which shows the port selection, it says "Refer to the image that most closely matches your computer."

Therefore, it's either the Thunderbolt 3 port or the USB-C port with HP Sleep and Charge. If your port shows the USB connectivity symbol with the lightning looking logo, unfortunately, that is the useless USB-C + HP Sleep and Charge combo, not Thunderbolt 3 and you will miss out on a lot of features.

I sincerely dislike how HP has branded HP Sleep and Charge as some sort of fake Thunderbolt 3 solution that sounds like an input charging port.

I'm afraid HP seems to be offering a lot of Spectre/Omen models that have this type of weird variance which only confuses consumers even further. If those marketing images were directly underneath the product purchase site and offered no disclaimers such as:

[1] Port selection may vary upon customization and availability of HP Omen 15 models

Then it's in your best interest to contact HP.

Hope this helps,

Eddy

Hello @Hardik_18,

Please don't feel cheated.

I have no idea where you purchased this laptop (from a reseller, not HP?) but there could've been a mistake and you should probably contact the seller about this.

I recently interacted with a user regarding some Spectre x360 models on the US HP Site and they contacted sales to find that Thunderbolt 3 port information was incorrect on their site. He/she hasn't confirmed yet and will be getting the laptop soon but mistakes are made.

I congratulate you that you were able to differentiate between the USB-C + HP Sleep and Charge logo from the Thunderbolt 3 logo considering that they seem so similar and many people get these mixed up.

If you really need the Thunderbolt port, I think it's in your best interest to contact the seller ASAP and if you need more clarification, just upload an image of how the port looks like, here.

Kind regards,

Eddy
