I recently purchased an HP stylus to use with my HP Spectre x360 laptop for writing and note-taking. However, the pen does not perform efficiently, as it often disconnects or stops working mid-writing. A friend suggested that I try using a Surface Pen instead, but I’m unsure if it’s compatible with my HP laptop. Can the Surface Pen work seamlessly with an HP Spectre x360, or are there compatibility issues I should be aware of?

Hello.

Your laptop does not understand the Microsoft Pen Protocol which is the standard of Surface Pen. Your touch screen understands only AES 2.0 protocol. Therefore, a Surface Pen will NOT work with your laptop.

The only supported stylus for your laptop is the "HP Rechargeable Active Pen", product number 4KL69AA.

Since then HP has come with updated version of the same pen, HP Rechargeable Active Pen G2 and G3. They will also work.

The AES technology is licensed from Wacom and they (Wacom) have also produced their own AES 2.0 compatible styli so they should work as well.
