RAM: Yes, it have 2 slots for RAM and currently it has 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) therefore one slot is empty. You can add same RAM to the second slot (for 16GB) or upgrade to 32GB (2 x 16GB).
STORAGE: space for external SSD? You can connect to any external drive. I believe you are asking for internal space. Yes, you can add 2.5" SSD/HDD to your machine.
