Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that the Thunderbolt port is not working after the BIOS update, I am glad to assist you.
Did you update the drivers after updating BIOS?
If not, follow these steps to fix the issue:-
Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.
Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here
- HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also, ensure Windows is up to date.
- Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Let me know how it goes.

Hi Marty1949,
Did you get any error when updating the BIOS?
I already had an error after BIOS update (latest one) about thunderbolt retimer firmware update failed. I could not get my thunderbolt/Usb-C ports working (not the same machine, but still an Intel platform).
I managed to fix that by downgrading to the former BIOS.

Thanks for replying but unfortunately it didn't help.
The BIOS update that caused the Thunderbird port problems came from the HP Assistant using the Update process you described. I check it now and then. Now when I go back there per your instruction, it says I'm up-to-date and there are no updates. It seems to think I have all the drivers I need for the BIOS update I installed.
The update was:
Any other ways I can get to the drivers you think I need?
Thanks!
