HP hardware diagnostics (on selecting See System Specifiction) keeps reporting "Error: Failure (Start ETDi Support Driver 20.0)", "A certificate was explicitly revoked by its issuer". This is followed by a notification "A driver cannot load on this device. etdsupp_20.0.sys. A security setting is detecting this as a vulnerable driver".
A Google search for this driver doesn't help. Changing Core Isolation does not seem to help? Any suggestions? Is this even important?
Many thanks, Paul

Hi @psmith_uk
Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
It looks like the ETDi Support Driver 20.0 is being flagged as a security risk due to a revoked certificate, which is preventing it from loading properly. This issue has been reported by other HP users, particularly after Windows 11 updates.
Is This Driver Important?
The etdsupp_20.0.sys driver is related to ELAN touchpad support, meaning it could affect touchpad functionality. If your touchpad is working fine, you might not need to worry about it. However, if you're experiencing issues with gestures or responsiveness, addressing this driver problem could be necessary.
Possible Fixes:
-
Check for Updated Drivers
- Visit HP’s official support page for your Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 and look for updated touchpad drivers.
- If HP doesn’t have a newer version, check ELAN’s website for direct driver downloads.
-
Disable Core Isolation Temporarily
- If Core Isolation is blocking the driver, disabling it might allow the driver to load.
- Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Windows Security → Device Security → Core Isolation → Toggle Memory Integrity off.
- Restart your laptop and check if the error persists.
-
Manually Remove the Faulty Driver
- Open Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices → Locate ELAN Touchpad → Right-click → Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop and let Windows reinstall the default driver.
-
Check Windows Update for Driver Fixes
- Sometimes, Microsoft pushes updated drivers through Windows Update.
- Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.
